Educational Change and Challenges in Poland and The Czech Republic After 1989
Authors of the book analyze the educational changes that have been happening in Poland and the Czech Republic in detail. They relate their analysis to contemporary reality, which is the background, the source and context of those changes. The contemporaneity, wih the collapse of communism, the marketisation of economy and the transformation of axio-normative systems seems to be the leitmotiv of each chapter, expressed in the title of the book: "after 1989."
Education as presented (...) in the book, is one that focuses on process: critical and reflective, which will provide contemporary people with the basic skills to understand culture and social world they live in; to (re)construct their own lives autonomously, and not merely following dominant cultures or structures.
The book (...) shows the areas for further research and it leads to (critical) reflection on consequences of transformation and development of contemporary education. That was the main aim of the authors, and as such, in my opinion, it has been achieved.
